HIKING

While Outdoor Recreation doesn’t currently offer hiking trips, but we are looking at adding this to our programming in the future; however, equipment is available at the Outdoor Recreation Operation Center for rental and purchase, so you can enjoy your “great walk”. With that said we want you to know that Ohio is a beautiful state and we wouldn’t want you to miss out on the local attractions and wildlife that can be spotted on foot in the Miami Valley, so here are a few of the local attractions where wildlife is abundant.

 

Caesar Creek State Park

Caesar Creek State Park is located at 8570 E. St Rt 73, Waynesville Ohio and can be reached at (513) 897-9719. Caesar Creek offers forty-three miles of hiking trails that lead hikers to the interesting areas of the park with many scenic views along the way. For horsemen, thirty-one miles of trail and a horsemen's camp are offered.

 

Hueston Woods State Park

Hueston Woods State Park is located at 6301 Park Office Rd, College Corner Ohio, and can be reached at (513) 526-6347. Hueston Woods offers miles of trails for your outdoor pleasure: more than 10 miles of hiking trails; 18 miles of bridle trails, plus a horsemen’s staging area; also The American Discovery Trail passes through the park.

 

John Bryan State Park

John Bryan State Park offers is located at 3790 St. Rt. 370, Yellow Springs Ohio, and can be reached at (937) 767-1274. Nature lovers can enjoy any of the nine different trails found in John Bryan. Trails follow the scenic river gorge and meander through majestic woodlands. Portions of many trails are wheelchair accessible with assistance to some degree. Trails are four to five feet in width and have packed earth or crushed stone base.
